You Deserve Real Connection
I understand that it takes courage to be your most authentic self and ask for love and acceptance in return. We all have the potential for growth and change. I am here to support you in your journey.
Hi, I’m Kari (she/her).
I love working with my clients.
I grew up in the rural Midwest and have been living in the Pacific Northwest for over twenty years. I’m pretty casual, have a sassy sense of humor, and curse without apology. I am an attentive listener and show up without judgement or shame.
I identify as a queer, sex-positive, neurodivergent, cisgender, able-bodied woman. I am a parent within an extensive blended family. My community includes friends, neighbors, biological and chosen family, and one persistent neighborhood cat.
Qualifications
I graduated with a Master’s in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy with a specialization in Sex Therapy from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. In addition to my focus on sex therapy, my education at Lewis and Clark College included training with some of the key founding members of Socio-Emotional Relationship Therapy, a practice of therapy focused on the impacts of equity and social justice in relationships.

As part of my degree, I completed training at the Lewis and Clark Clinic and The Center for Couples and Sex Therapy. Working at The Center for Couples and Sex Therapy enhanced my experience working with clients addressing sexual pain, out of control sexual behavior, desire discrepancy, ethical non-monogamy, sexual identity, and communication issues.

Ask Me Anything
-
Sex therapy is very similar to traditional therapy, though sex therapy requires specialized, post-graduate training and certification.
We will likely discuss cognitive, emotional, and physical concerns that are impacting you, your relationships, and your sexuality. Sex therapy is entirely talk therapy. There is no touching during sessions. Exercises pertaining to your goals may be assigned to be completed outside of session.
My practice is inclusive and affirming for everyone. Sessions are client-led, and I welcome you to share as much or as little as you are comfortable with. Consent and communication are the cornerstones to relationships.
-
I work with clients from 10:00a to 5:00p Monday - Thursday and 10:00a - noon on
Fridays, depending on availability. I offer alternating evening sessions on a limited basis.
-
I am excited to offer in-person sessions in the future, but at this time, it is not possible.

I am currently not paired with any insurance carriers at this time. MFT Associates in private practice cannot bill the majority of insurance plans per state regulation. Additionally, clients may find that the diagnosis required by insurance companies does not align with their complex, personal experience. Furthermore, insurance companies require private information not all clients feel comfortable having in a corporate record system.
If you would like to use insurance, you can choose to submit what is referred to as a “superbill” to your insurance company for reimbursement. I cannot guarantee your insurance company will reimburse you, nor can I be held liable for any charges they refuse to reimburse. I highly recommend contacting your insurance company directly to see if you qualify. Please inform me during our first session together if you would like to receive monthly superbills.
Let’s work together.
